Get The Boys A Lift

Mental Health is becoming an increasingly common issue in today’s society affecting thousands of people worldwide. We previously fundraised for MIND Cymru in February during a bingo event. It was then we decided we wanted to do more to help make a difference. The feeling we had as event organisers and as a club once we counted out the money, was something words cannot describe. The money raised could help change a life and provide that all-important help, and care so desperately needed. By selecting a charity each season we are going to help more people in need, and helping spread awareness not only in our club, but also the wider community.
By helping fundraise for mental health, not only will we be raising awareness within our hockey club and local community, we will be giving charites the chance to expand and gain new vital resources that can help make a difference. Also they will be able to spend a greater amount of time improving the lives of the people who turn to them for support. A safe zone if you like, somewhere where they know no one will judge them.
As a club we've chosen to campaign for mental health this hockey season. Our main chairty is Mind Cymru. We will be plannning several family orientated fundraiser events for Mind Cymru with one being this Friday - Pub Quiz, 16th November 6:30pm at Carmarthen Athletic Rugby Club.
However, we want to help more local non-profit charities who help Mental Health based charities. To start this off, we recently decided to kit our club out with clothing from a new local mental health charity ‘Get the Boys a Lift’.
'Get The Boys A Lift' have grown into a prominent figure, within their community and are quickly becoming one of the quickest growing social enterprises in Pembrokeshire. They have even taken on a premise on Dew Street in Harverfordwest and have begun work, in transfroming it into a drop in facility for their community. They dont just make and sell clothing - they do so much more.
This is all in hope that togther, we can spread enough awareness and support and one day, Mental Health stigmas and issues can be reduced.
Join us in making a difference.
